Two inaugural fellows have been appointed to the AIC Institute for Corporate Citizenship at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management. With their appointments, Rotman Profs. Anita McGahan and Yue Li will receive direct support for ongoing research in the area of corporate citizenship, including resources for research-related expenses.

"In selecting these two outstanding scholars, the Institute recognizes their past exemplarily academic work and also looks forward to supporting their current and future research," says Rod Lohin, executive director of the AIC Institute.

Anita McGahan is the Rotman Chair in Management and a professor of strategic management. She is also currently a non-resident Visiting Professor of Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School and a Senior Associate at the Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness at Harvard University, where she collaborates on research with Harvard Business School Professor Michael Porter. Her credits include two books and over 100 articles, case studies, notes and other published material on strategic issues of competitive advantage, industry evolution, and financial performance. She is currently pursuing a long-standing interest in the inception of new industries, and in the implications for health delivery, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, innovation in the energy sector, and evolution of the military-industrial sector. McGahan is on the editorial boards of the Academy of Management Review, Management Science, the Strategic Management Journal, and Strategic Organization

Yue Li is an associate professor of accounting at the Roman School. He has taught courses in managerial accounting, management control, financial statement analysis, and consolidation. His research interests include environmental accounting, corporate governance, voluntary disclosure and capital markets, and IPO valuation. He has published widely in leading accounting journals, including recent papers on the relationship between environmental performance and environmental disclosure. His research papers have been honoured with awards at several international conferences.

The AIC Institute for Corporate Citizenship aims to help current and future business leaders integrate corporate citizenship into business strategy and practices. Its activities include a dedicated research program to help senior executives make strategic decisions about the changing roles of their businesses in society, the support of academic research across management disciplines by Rotman faculty and PhDs, the development of curricula to engage students, and a wide variety of events on corporate citizenships strategies, issues and cases.
