OTTAWA — Today, the Government of Canada released the fuel consumption ratings for 2010 model year vehicles and announced this year’s winners of the most fuel-efficient vehicles sold in Canada.

“Our Government congratulates all winners of the 2010 ecoENERGY for Vehicles Awards,” said the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources. “Not only do these awards recognize leadership in clean energy innovation, but Canadians purchasing a new vehicle now have the tools to choose a fuel-efficient model that will lower fuel costs and reduce emissions.”

A guide detailing the most fuel-efficient vehicles of 2010 is now available online. Consumers can use the ratings tool to compare the fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions of new cars and light-duty trucks sold in Canada. This interactive Web site will allow users to conveniently search for vehicles by class, make, transmission or fuel type and display the results sorted by model, fuel efficiency or carbon dioxide emissions.

The ecoENERGY for Personal Vehicles program supports the Government of Canada’s commitment to reduce Canada’s total greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent by 2020.

To find a vehicle’s fuel consumption, go to vehicles.nrcan.gc.ca and select Fuel Consumption Ratings.
