Toronto - A new international summer program in Green Building Design will be launched next Monday by The World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) and York University. The pilot program is the first of its kind to address the need for a new generation of global thinkers who can solve complex environmental problems across borders.

The course "Design for Sustainability in the Built Environment: Interactive Workshop" will bring together upper year undergraduate students in a variety of disciplines, from institutions within Ontario and around the world. They will explore various themes related to sustainable building design including: the historical and cultural perspective, the business and policy case, green building rating systems, the ecology of green building and next generation opportunities for creating regenerative buildings.

The course will take place from June 22 to July 10, in the Faculty of Environmental Studies at York University, with workshops at the LEED Gold certified Earth Rangers Centre at the Kortright Centre for Conservation, Toronto and Region Conservation's leading environmental education centre.
