The development of an energy management strategy is a must for municipalities and private corporations. All organizations need champions who can lead their organizations into a new energy reality. That was the key message that came out of this year’s Energy Matters Summit, the theme of which was "Shifting Mindsets Towards Sustainability." While the presentations at the Peel Region summit suggested that much was being accomplished at the municipal level, private corporations are still lagging behind on creating transformative change within their organizations.

Conservation, the improvement of current assets and further development of renewables are the three main issues we must tackle in Canada to ensure a secure electricity supply in coming years. This was the conclusion reached by the participants in "The Future of Energy Dialogue" at Globe 2008. The effective integration of renewables into that mix will be of the utmost importance - an opinion expressed in a number of sessions at the conference.
